Imperial War Museum

A place worth taking a walk to is the Imperial War Museum. The main location and the one of interest to us is a fifteen minute walk from the back of County Hall, or a short bus ride (The 159 from Westminster Bridge Road would do for instance).
A place worth taking a walk to is the Imperial War Museum. The main location and the one of interest to us is a fifteen minute walk from the back of County Hall, or a short bus ride (The 159 from Westminster Bridge Road would do for instance). To get there go to the road that continues on from Westminster Bridge and walk south away from Parliament. You will walk around the large hotel on the roundabout, under a large victorian railway bridge and soon come to a junction. if you cross over and take a slight right hand slant the museum will appear on your left as a grand building with the accoutrement of war outside it. If in doubt ask a local.
The Imperial War Museum is a British national museum organisation with branches at five locations in England, three of which are in London. The museum was founded during the First World War in 1917 and intended as a record of the war effort and sacrifice of Britain and her Empire. Today the museum gives its mission as 'to enable people to have an informed understanding of modern war and its impact on individuals and society.
The museum is not a celebration of war or victory, it is not a pacifist plea, it just shows it how it is and for this it is well worth a look.
